RIVER SPIRIT MUSIC HOUSE CONCERTS
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
National Touring Artists Greg Greenway, Pat Wictor and Joe Jencks have made their mark as veteran touring singer-songwriters, but Brother Sun is no songwriter's round. The trio's harmonies, as much as their lyrics, tell what they are about: warm as a campfire, stirring as a gospel church, rousing as a call to arms. Fusing folk, Americana, blues, pop, jazz, rock, and a cappella singing, Brother Sun is an explosion of musical diversity and harmony, in the finest of male singing traditions.

Brother Sun is regarded as a must-see live act. Brother Sun’s music and message appeal to mainstream listeners and dedicated folkies alike, to people of widely divergent spiritual and political leanings, and fans of both contemporary and traditional music. They offer the hope of people uniting to create beauty in uncertain and unsettled times.

Robt Sarazin Blake and The Letters Album Launch
Americana, Folk/Traditional, and Acoustic
Woodstock Music Shop
1300 Ulster Ave
Kingston, NY   See Map
Join us for an album release concert celebrating Robt Sarazin Blake's new double album, Recitative.

Over 20 years into making music, Blake highlights his unusual song forms, which land between spoken word, folk song, rock song, and theatrical installation, with the title "Recitative." Recitative, also known by its Italian name “recitativo,” is a style of delivery in which a singer is allowed to adopt the rhythms of ordinary speech—a style that permeates Blake’s music over the folk- and blues-inspired rock laid down by his backing band.

The Letters—Connor Kennedy on guitar, Lee Falco on drums, Brandon Morrison on bass, and Will Bryant on piano—represent the next generation of the “Hudson Valley sound” started by Bob Dylan and The Band. The list of where they’ve played is tall and long, from Levon’s Barn to Carnegie Hall.

Drew Bordeaux has opened for Daughtry and Boz Scaggs and performed at the 2016 Pleasantville Music Fest. Catch this up-close-and-personal performance.

Drew's sets are rooted in percussive acoustic guitar and earthy/soulful vocals, laced with live loops and violin solos. Drew meshes together core influences including classics like Fleetwood Mac and BB King to Talking Heads and Stone Temple Pilots -- with contemporaries like Mumford and Sons and Hozier to Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. The resulting sound is often considered a mix of Ben Harper and Jimi Hendrix, his vocals reminiscent of Eddie Vedder and Darius Rucker.

Drew's performed at an impressive list of venues, including Bostons the Middle East and Sanders Theater, and NYCs the Bitter End, Ace of Clubs, and CBGB, and is a 12 Grapes favorite.

Veterans of the festival circuit, they've toured the country while maintaining their ties to the Hudson Valley, where they live near Kingston. In 2013 they founded the Summer and Winter Hoot, a pair of annual music festivals benefiting the Ashokan Center. Pete Seeger described the Hoot as "One of the best song-gatherings I've seen in all my 94 years." Mike and Ruthy will lead instrumental workshops in the afternoon and, as The Mammals, perform in the evening.

Tribes Hill begins our 2017 Kindred Folk concert series at a different location than last year. We are now partnering with Division Street Guitars and using their performance space. Come by, get a set-up for your guitar, buy some strings, and catch the show. We hope to turn some new peeps on to our stable of talented Hudson River Valley Songwriters and welcome more young Indie Folk into the Tribe.

Robt Sarazin Blake and The Letters w/ Dante DeFelice Concert
Folk/Traditional, Americana, and Bluegrass
Quinn's
330 Main St,
Beacon, NY   See Map
Over 20 years into making music, Blake celebrates his unusual song forms, which land between spoken word, folk song, rock song, and theatrical installation, with the title of his new double album, Recitative. Recitative, also known by its Italian name “recitativo,” is a style of delivery in which a singer is allowed to adopt the rhythms of ordinary speech—a style that permeates Blake’s music over the folk- and blues-inspired rock laid down by his backing band.

With the support of The Letters, Blake is able to paint with broader strokes and more vivid colors; the band is a Ferrari in idle waiting to roar between the narratives and vignettes.
