Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, John Oates (Hall & Oates) wrote: "Daphne has a voice you can't deny and will blow your mind." And he should know. He co-wrote and sang on Daphne's latest CD, "Live To Try", an independent release that's been receiving high praise. "Her seemingly effortless combination of Soul, Rock and Hip-Hop, coupled with witty lyrics, combine to reveal a well-crafted disc". In Feb '14, Daphne performed alongside Umphrey's McGee in Chicago.

This is a performance you don't want to miss!

With Chicago roots & Texas ties, Daphne Willis brings both musicality and grit to the songs she writes and plays. Her 2nd CD, "Because I Can", reached the number two spot on iTunes' Top 40 Singer/Songwriter Chart.

The LA Based Troubadour returns with a new release - Two Moons!
with Tom Freund and Friends
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
It’s the effortless ease with which he delivers conversational lyrics and mellifluous melodies a natural magic that is the heart of Tom Freund’s music.

Freund's latest disc "Two Moons" on Surf Road Records, finds the Los Angeles-based Freund in a contemplative yet confident mood, where swirls of nostalgia blend with sharp-eyed views of life today. With his new album, Freund draws on folk, rock, jazz and other roots sources for an urbane Americana sound. Blending woozy mariachi horns and mermaid-evoking backing vocals in and a blast of electric guitar. Inspired by a lot of old Squeeze music, Freund also mixed trippy keyboards and old-school synths to flesh out tracks like “Me and Bernice and “Lemme Be Who I Wanna Be."

Katonah, NY   See Map
Caramoor Presents: An Evening with the David Grisman Sextet. David Grisman returns to Caramoor! For nearly half a century, mandolinist / composer / bandleader / producer David Grisman has been a guiding force in the evolving world of acoustic music. His musical range is wide and deep – embracing many styles, genres and traditions.

An acoustic pioneer and innovator, Grisman forged a unique personal artistic path, skillfully combining elements of the great American music/art forms — jazz and bluegrass with many international flavors and sensibilities to create his own distinctive idiom – “Dawg” music (the nickname given him by Jerry Garcia.) In doing so, he’s inspired new generations of acoustic string musicians, while creating his own niche in contemporary music.

With influences ranging from hot jazz to bluegrass to classic rock to folk, the David Grisman Sextet is a unique and dynamic experience.

Singer-Songwriter
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Susan Kane's sweet and sharp Americana is an alchemy of stuff dug from the dirt, born from books, gleaned from the air, yesterday's news and tomorrow's daydreams. Her third CD, A Word Child, was released in late 2012. Like her previous two releases, it was well received by radio the world-over, reaching high positions on several charts over several months. She is hard at work on her fourth release.

New York based Judy Kass, classically trained, blends generous amounts of folk, jazz and blues. Whether playing piano or finger-style guitar, Judy quickly draws in her audience with soulful vocals, no-nonsense lyrics and genre-bending harmonics. Her debut album, Better Things, released early 2014, highlights her skills as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer and arranger. Susan and Judy will be accompanied by some of the Hudson Valley’s finest musicians: Peter Calo on guitar, Jeff Eyrich on bass, and Eric Puente on drums.

A veteran of both the Irish and American folk circuit, Bob is an experienced balladeer and multi-instrumentalist. He sings in a strong baritone, from rousing "pub song" favorites to tender love songs and accompanies himself on guitar, cittern, banjo, and button accordion.

Gary and Roger TerBush have been playing music together for most of their lives. They started out as teenagers in various rock and acoustic acts.

It wasn’t until the late 70’s that their musical interests really joined together to form what was, and has continued to be, a union of great singing and playing.

Their music is a combination of traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music fused with contemporary acoustic sounds delivered with great vocals and instrumental solos.

Over the past decade,vocalist/writer/musician/producer has built a formidable body of recordings, won an international reputation as a riveting live performer, amassed an extensive file of rapturous critical raves.

She’s achieved these distinctions on her own terms, releasing five albums and a live DVD on her own Kismet label, touring around the world on her own dime, and building a remarkably loyal fan base.

Along the way, Kurtz was named Female Songwriter of the Year by the National Academy of Songwriters. Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt have raved about her in interviews, and she’s performed on World Cafe, Mountain Stage and NPR’s Morning Edition.

She’s toured with and/or opened for Elvis Costello, Antony and the Johnsons, Richard Thompson, Rufus Wainwright, B.B. King, Dr. John, Richie Havens, Keren Ann, Joe Henry, Olu Dara, Chris Whitley, Richard Buckner, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the Blind Boys of Alabama.

Living with Elephants is a quintet pop band from Ulster County. Their soulful moody blend of chamber-soul songs will warm you from the inside. The band is Amy Poux - songwriter, lead vocals, keyboard, Rob Norris - electric bass, Chris Andersen – drums, Jerusha Kellerhouse – violin & Marianne Tasick - vocals & avocado shaker.

Their new CD, “HOME”, release 5/2014, was described by the Times Almanac as "Sublimated gospel, Latin, soul and pop grooves scaled to the muted and acute spaces of Amy Poux’s songs. It is the great rainbow of hush." The CD was recorded and mixed by Daniel Weintraub at Hell's Kitchen Recording and The Art Farm, Accord, NY.

Living with Elephants' first CD was named one of the top 10 CD's in the Hudson Valley and the New York Daily Freeman gave it this review: "With a compelling sense of song craft and a way with melody, coupled with Poux's perfect intonation and hauntingly beautiful voice, 'Living With Elephants" is a must have."
