GARNER Arts Center
55 West Railroad Avenue
Garnerville, NY   See Map
Bring your chair or blankets and a picnic and enjoy live music from Beacon artist, Jill Hartmann. Raised in Louisiana and the child of two musical families, Jill began singing at a very young age. Her first concrete passion aside from singing was poetry, writing volumes of verse starting from the time she was 8 years old which would inevitably aid in her songwriting in later years. Eventually she would attend Louisiana State University for poetry but along the way, her true love of music made its way back into her life. At the age of 20, Jill started teaching herself how to play the guitar, emulating such legendary folk finger-pickers as Joni Mitchell. The result is a unique and immediately identifiable style all her own. $5 admission Drinks for sale

Funk, Rock (classic). Psychedlic Funk Rock N Soul
The Colony
22 Rock City Road
Woodstock, NY   See Map
"What began as a side trip for Parliament-Funkadelic’s Michael “Clip” Payne has evolved into one of the most versatile jam bands around, a Family Stone-meets-The-Dead vehicle that frees your mind -- so that your ass, of course, can follow. Some of the finest original funk this side of Sly Stone, Larry Graham and the Godfather of Soul. The 420 Funk Mob melds that sound with some Sixties psychedelia, a bit of Sun Ra "arkestration," performed by a revolving cast of former P-Funk members and masterful musician friends. Jam after jam, style after style, they sync up. One collective under a frequently hypnotic groove"

What attracts us to new bands? Exceptional vocals teamed with exceptionally talented musicians. One listen to Breakfast with the Boys and you'll understand.

Breakfast for the Boys is a Hudson Valley Indie band that delivers a fresh style of Soul with a "70s Art Rock subconscious". This dynamic four-piece showcases the underground Funk of Boston's rich music scene and the gritty, romantic sounds of New York. Powerhouse front-woman Aubrey Haddard fights fire with fire; a smokey vocal firestorm fueled by the intense prowess of guitarist Pierce Allen, bassist Sam Smith, and drummer Roger Larochelle.

Breakfast with the Boys just releases their self-titled LP, showcasing the group's obvious comfort in a variety of sounds and styles... "from tremolo' cries to midnight Mali Gospel; all sexy, hip-shaking, and unashamed. Breakfast is served."

"Easily among the top mainstream trombonists in Jazz today"-Joel Roberts, New York City Jazz Record

Since leaving Sonny Rollins band in 2009 Clifton Anderson has focused on creating a unique place for himself in the world of Jazz. His perseverance in the development of his playing, compositional writing and musical concepts have paid off. His identifiable sound and memorable compositions have drawn an ever expanding audience to his recordings and performances. In addition to his work with Rollins, Clifton has worked with an "A list" of musical luminaries including Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Keith Richards and Slide Hampton among others. Clifton's performances showcase a variety of swinging originals; high energy straight-ahead, calypsos, funk and American standards. Check out his latest CD, And So We Carry On, and be uplifted.

Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Jamming Music?

Funk, Rock (classic). Psychedlic Funk Rock N Soul
Stanhope House
45 Main Street
Stanhope, NJ   See Map

Dylan Doyle is creating a stir in the Hudson Valley as well as in pockets around the Nation. Born in the South to Yankee parents, he spent the first few years of his life living on a tobacco farm in North Carolina.

He was steeped in everything from Robert Johnson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, and John Lee Hooker to Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix. From this comes a unique musical interpretation that lies somewhere within the Delta of Rock, Blues, and Funk.

Stellar Songwriting, Stellar Singing
with Marc Von Em
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Marc's original music is influenced by folk, funk & blues, with a few choice cover songs woven in. As one reviewer wrote: "If you haven't seen Marc Von Em perform live, you're only cheating yourself."

Marc is able to create amazing amounts of sound and diversity through his voice and one faithful guitar. His chops are wide-ranging, from delicate finger picking to rambunctious Pete Townsend-type strumming. Marc is able to seamlessly switch his vibe -- his dynamic voice can go from smooth & soaring to smoky scatting. His harmonica playing is equally impressive and he sometimes uses it to accompany Muddy Waters-style blues on guitar.

Just off his 3rd tour with The Rob Thomas Band -- this year with the famed '90s band, Counting Crows -- Marc Von Em receives raves reviews wherever he plays. Rob Thomas wrote, "... when I heard his original stuff, I asked [Marc] to open up a 10,000 seat gig. Just him, his guitar, and his songs. He killed it!"
