Big Band! Big Noise! Big Halloween!
with Ed Palermo Big Band Halloween!
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Ed Palermo is not a “business as usual” musician. His Big Band may deliver Zappa, Hendrix, Rundgren, Paul Butterfield, Mike Bloomfield or one of Ed’s own compositions, with lush turns and twists.

Ed’s interpretation of the music of iconoclastic composer Frank Zappa has brought him wide recognition. His first CD of this material, “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa”, garnered rave reviews. Downbeat magazine gave “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa” a 4-star review. Palermo’s second CD of Zappa material, entitled “Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance” has been received with equal enthusiasm.

The latest release, 'Oh No! Not Jazz!!' consists of two albums - the first explores Ed's distinctive interpretations of Frank Zappa's work and works from original Mothers Of Invention, with a vocal by guest Napoleon Murphy Brock. The second album features Ed's own riotous, colorful compositions, featured here for the first time in over 25 years!

“Amanda Homi covers a lot of musical territory in a masterful, yet adventurous, way…an enchanting journey...” Joe Ross, Roots Music Report

New York City-based singer-songwriter Amanda Homi's new album "Till I Reach Bombay", is a celebration of Ms. Homi's affinity for music and dance from around the world. Amanda's musical and spiritual travels are deeply explored in this new exuberant song collection. Her music effortlessly crosses genres (world, roots, classic, pop) at the drop of a hat as the characters of her songs journey from New York City to Greece, Italy, India, Colombia, Egypt and Spain (not necessarily in that order).

Robbie Dupree Trio, Clifford Carter, David Spinozza, Manuel QuintanaThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Robbie Dupree began his music career by singing on the street corners of Brooklyn. His passion for music flourished in the rich, creative atmosphere of the late 1960s. Moving to New York City, Robbie dedicated himself to songwriting and the pursuit of a solo career. He studied the work of R&B legends like Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke. Their powerful rhythms and sensual melodies became the foundation of Robbie’s emerging style, which would take him through several bands in the city and eventually up to Woodstock, where he garnered national acclaim with his song "When You're Down." In 1978 Robbie struck it out on his own with his debut album, earning two top 10 singles and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

Robbie will be featuring long-time bandmates Clifford Carter and David Spinozza with Manuel Quintana (percussion). Its a departure from his full production shows and promises to be an intimate night of grooves and great songs.

BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Lead singer Nee Nee Rushie, a native of Jamaica, leads her five bandmates in what is arguably one of the best upstate NY groups in recent memory.

Keeping alive the tradition of roots/ska/reggae realness, the Big Takeover's refreshingly upbeat and original.

You'll find it hard to believe that all the cuts on their Debut CD "Following Too Close" are originals, as they magnificently capture early rocksteady riddims with supertight songwriting.

The Big Takeover leans hard toward reggae's more up-tempo parents, ska and rocksteady, and their high energy has audiences jamming from start to finish.

There newest CD, "Tale of My Life" has gotten rave reviews.

"...the intensely jubilant music the Big Takeover makes is the sound of Rushie, as well as her five gifted cohorts, spreading their creative wings—and picking up more and more new fans as they fly along."-Peter Aaron, Chronogram

Keegan Ales
20 Saint James Street
Kingston, NY   See Map
Oh Man, do we love this joint...Keegan Ales, great, local, beer and great food...and, an equally great band, (you'll be the 2nd to know), to rock the joint...I will bring a unique blend of eclectic musicians together to mingle in the musically unknown...ya know it's gonna be entertaining.

In this ‘ensemble’, nothing is sacred.....improv is rampant...lyrics are changed at will...notes and chords are bent and perverted...familiar languages are obliterated....harmonies are sweet and sour perfection......tunes are put through a fun house mirror, and yet, serious, sophisticated and uncompromising in execution. You are not gonna wanna miss this one.

Best Jazz Brunch of the Hudson Valley Winner - 2014!
with Jack Grace Band
Singer-Songwriter. Guitarist
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Jack Grace is a singer, songwriter and guitarist hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Simple enough, unless you happen to work in the music business. The entertainment world loves a label: character actor, avant garde painter, fill-in-the-blank musician. Jack writes for himself and plays for others. Simple enough, right?

His debut, Introducing the Songs of Jack Grace, was an acoustic affair, which many mistook as country. “Fine, call it country if you want,” he said at the time. “What you label it doesn’t mean all that much to me.” His most recent release, Drinking Songs for Lovers, had some fine country numbers, but he added mariachi horns to give them a Latin flavor.

Jack is at the helm of a powerhouse band that plays kick the can with any musical genre that it stumbles across. “If you don’t laugh and cry at the same …you better check your pulse. You might be disgracefully dead.” – James Reaney, London Free Press (London, ON)

Join us for an acoustic evening of music with Lindsey Webster and her band of world-class musicians. With her second album release set for December 2014, Webster will be playing the album in its entirety with Mike DeMicco (Brubeck Brothers, Michael Franks, Professor Louie) on guitar, Ken Gioffre (B.B. King, Smokey Robinson, Tito Puente) on sax, Jesse Murphy (Natalie Merchant, John Scofield) on acoustic bass, Keith Slattery (Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Boots Randolph) on piano, T. Xiques (Savoy Brown, Garth Hudson, Robbie Dupree) on drums/percussion.

Making strides in her local community of Woodstock, NY right on down to NYC, Lindsey and her band have been wowing crowds since 2009 (and along the way performing with Michael Bolton and sharing the stage with the likes of Donald Fagen and John Legend, among other notables).

With one record down and another on the way, Lindsey is ready to make an even bigger name for herself as a recording artist and writer.

"Fall Into Jazz" Classics old and new. Relaxed, unified, and warm.

Bassist, Doug Weiss has toured Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States with a wide variety of discerning musical luminaries; Toshiko Akiyoshi, Mose Allison, Marc Copland, Kenny Drew Jr, Al Foster, Billy Hart, Fred Hersch, Clifford Jordan, Lee Konitz and Joe Williams.

Adam Birnbaum is emerging as one of the top young voices in jazz piano. As a leader his albums have drawn substantial critical acclaim. As a sideman, his wide-ranging versatility and artistry have made him a first call.

Tivon Pennicott's unique style incorporates his masterful attention to rhythm, tasteful melodic lines, and his deep understanding of the importance of the groove.

Mark Patterson's abode resounds with the music played on his collection of twentieth-century trombones, the variety of which is vast and varied and at times surprising.

Sessions. The MAGIC happens here.
with JP Patrick & Friends
Blues/Rock/Jazz Fusion
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
The 1st Thurs of each month, join saxman and vocalist JP Patrick & his band as they play for each other, and for you. The band explores the musical territory of Blues, R&B, Funk and Jazz. Every installment of "Sessions" is unique, as JP often invites different musicians to sit in and perform.

Every month, there's a new dynamic on the stage. It may be a sit-down electric-acoustic night, or dueling drummers, or exceptional harmonies with 3 back-up singers. You never know what MAGIC may happen at one of JP's Sessions, but you will never be disappointed in the calibre of the music.

Tonight features JP on lead vocals, Blues harp & alto sax (and sometimes a little stand-up comedy!), DAVE McDOWELL on sax/flute, PAUL BIZ on bass and LINDA GEIGER on drums, with special guest on guitar!

Help us pack the place tonight. Live music is truly a gift. And tonight, it's FREE.

**Free Admission**
