Legendary keyboardist Bruce Katz has released seven CDs as a leader and appeared on nearly seventy other recordings.

The Bruce Katz Band's trademark sound blends B3 organ and guitar into "blues-soul-jazz”, and New Orleans-inspired roots music - occupying a unique space, where blues and Americana collide.

Katz has played with the Delbert McClinton Band, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, and John Hammond, the latter (Hammond) with whom he still plays on occasion. Katz was a member of the Gregg Allman Band from 2007-2013, and currently tours as a member of Les Brers, featuring former members of the Allman Bros. band. Bruce was a full-time member of Butch Trucks & the Freight Train Band, fronted by the legendary ex-Allman Bros. drummer who recently passed away. He’s a natural storyteller, balancing the exuberant with the poignant, and able to distill universal truth out of his often romantic, drawn-from-life tales. “By any other word would smell as sweet. But, soft! What light through yonder window break? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.”-Romeo. Embroiled in a feud ignited by their own families, Romeo and Juliet find their world at odds between an unwavering devotion to each other and the pressure from others to pull them apart. This 90 –minute production also features a talkback with the actors. Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s ROMEO AND JULIET will be set in a New England prep school. The Montague’s and Capulet’s are elite families who have sent their children to this school for generations. While united by class, they are bitterly divided by tradition and ideology. There are rifts and tensions at the school involving wealthy students and scholarship students, parents and children, teachers and staff. The Nurse is Juliet’s nanny; the friars are faculty.

BernardThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Which musician did Aretha Franklin definitely NOT want missing from the line-up when she recorded her most inspired albums at the beginning of the seventies. Who provided the back-beat for Steely Dan's "Aja", and for whom have Isaac Hayes, Donny Hathaway, B.B. King, "Sweet" Lou Donaldson, Joe Cocker and Hank Crawford reserved that stool behind the drum kit?

The list is incomplete; it must be, because no other drummer in the last three decades has seen the interior of a recording studio as often as Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. A native of Elkton, Maryland has laid down the beat on over 3000 albums to date.

The legendary drummer's style is described as the "funkiest soul beat" in the business. Purdie has never limited his talents, but has consistently sought out new musical experiences, anchoring sessions with the Rolling Stones, James Brown and Tom Jones with equal ease. "DRIVE" and "GROOVE" are definitely not missing from his vocabulary.

They've played a few gigs, and have recorded, with drummer, Mike Clark (Headhunters). Farberman has performed in ensembles led by Ras Moshe, William Parker, Rhys Chatham, and Jason Kao Hwang. The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Featuring David Liebman/Sax, Bobby Avey/Piano, Matt Vashlishan/Reeds, Tony Marino/Bass and Alex Ritz/Drums

Throughout their 2017 performances, The Dave Liebman Group will feature music written and played by John Coltrane - celebrating the 90th year of his birth and 50th since his passing - covering the three periods of his short, yet extraordinary, career beginning with his tenure as a sideman in the Miles Davis Group; through the repertoire of the Classic Quartet (Tyner, Jones and Garrison); concluding with pieces from the late “free” jazz period.

Coltrane's body of work represents a pinnacle of achievement in the 20th century exerting an influence that goes beyond jazz both spiritually and musically. For Liebman, seeing Coltrane live on many occasions in NYC inspired him to pursue this music.
