One Night in Park Ridge, NJ
with Ellis Paul, Rebecca Loebe
Singer-Songwriter, Contemporary, and Folk/Traditional
Acoustic Cafe at First Congregational Church
131 Pascack Rd
Park Ridge, NJ   See Map
The Acoustic Café Music Series welcomes singer/songwriter Ellis Paul in concert, presented in a new location for this show only, the sanctuary of the First Congregational Church in Park Ridge. Special guest Rebecca Loebe will open the show.

Some artists document their lives through their music. Others chronicle their times. It’s a rare artist who can do both, telling their own story through songs that also encapsulate the essence of people and places who have helped define their era over-all. Ellis Paul is one of those gifted singer/songwriters. Though some may refer to him as a folksinger, he is more a singular storyteller. His new album, Chasing Beauty, is a set of songs which detail, in typical Paul fashion, stories of people and places that reflect larger truths about us all. First Congregational Church, 131 Pascack Rd, Park Ridge, NJ Tickets: $20 online $25 at the door www.cafeacoustic.org 201-573-0718 Proceeds will benefit the Haiti scholarship fund and Family Promise.

The Knights and Yo-Yo Ma Featured Concert
Classical/Opera
Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts
149 Girdle Ridge Rd
Katonah, NY   See Map
Overview In this colorful and wide-ranging program, The Knights team up with the inimitable cellist Yo-Yo Ma for music that bursts with individual creativity and reaction to fresh insights. For the young Mendelssohn, immersion in the arts and culture of Italy inspired a new symphony. In Federico II, Giovanni Sollima takes inspiration from the 13th-century Holy Roman Emperor who paved the way for the advances of the Renaissance. In Osvaldo Golijov’s Azul (written for Yo-Yo Ma in 2006) the composer combines two perspectives, simultaneously observing the Earth from afar, as if from the heavens, and also plunging into the turbulent depths of the human and earthly experience.
