This group's unique sound is it’s instrumentation; vocals with effects throughout; two guitars play different but equal roles; electric bass providing a funky foundation and movement; and drums provide a series of grooves without losing a jazz sensibility. Drummer, composer, and bandleader E.J. Strickland is most noted for his work with The Ravi Coltrane Quartet, The Marcus Strickland Quartet & Trio, & The Russell Malone Quartet. He currently leads his own bands The E.J. Strickland Quintet & The E.J. Strickland Project. Grammy and IBMA award-winning Mike Compton has also been named a player with "a worldwide reputation as one of the modern masters of bluegrass mandolin...one of the most recognizable and respected mandolin voices anywhere" by Mandolin Magazine. The New York Times calls Compton a “new bluegrass instrumental hero.” These two traditional music veterans love to play together, and it shows! Buy tickets | ||
