A True American Original
with Jill Sobule
Pop/Soft Rock, Acoustic, and Alternative
Unison Arts Center
68 Mountain Rest Road
New Paltz, NY   See Map
Singer, songwriter, storyteller, guitarist and gypsy Jill Sobule will bring her unique gifts to Unison on June 19. Over 7 albums and nearly two decades of recording, the Denver born singer has mused on topics sich as the death penalty, anorexia, adolescence and the Christian right. Her debut album was recorded by Todd Rundgren in 1990. In 1995, her self titled album yielded the hit songs "I Kissed A Girl" (the original) and "Supermodel." Since then she has continued to record, produce and tour with an ever-growing loyal fan base. According to Jon Pareles of The New York Times, "Jill Sobule can claim her place among the stellar New York singer-songwriters of the last decade. Topical, funny and more than a little poignant . . . grown up music for an adolescent age." Jill Sobule is a true American original.

Did we say "talented"?

We've been a huge fan of Melissa and her original music since she was 15. After self-releasing her first original album, "Kites and Clouds" in 2013, Melissa has continued writing more original compositions spanning Rock, Blues, Folk, and soulful influences.

A graduate from the Conservatory of SUNY Purchase, Melissa honed her skills as a composer and performer, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Music Education. Her deeply melodic, lyrical, and adventurous songs are bound to make the audience feel energized, refreshed, and inspired.

Melissa will be joined the mega-talents of Mark Mcintyre on guitar, Phil Rosenstock on bass, Jesse Kessler on keys and John Venezia on drums. They will be performing some of Melissa's original songs, as well as cool arrangements of select cover tunes!

Melissa says she's excited to return to our 12 Grapes stage. We are too! And YOU will be amazed at these young performers.

It’s a warm June evening. Lush, tranquil gardens embrace a stone relic of generations past, the Medieval Mount, as the last of the day’s sunlight filters through a tall stand of cedars beyond, falling quietly among the grasses and greenery. You’ve entered the Sunken Garden, a placid retreat at the southeast corner of this Italianate campus and the setting for Guitar in the Garden, a serene and intimate listening experience offered each summer at Caramoor.

A stylistically gifted performer, Ana Vidovic returns to Caramoor for her second Guitar in the Garden appearance with works by Bach, Torroba, Takemitsu, and others. Praised for her eloquent communicative abilities and fluid virtuosity, Vidovic has presented over 1,000 recital programs since launching her classical guitar career to much acclaim more than twenty-five years ago.

Audiences relish the free-flowing synergy with artists this peaceful outdoor series allows. Experience pastoral listening at its finest with us.
