"Dmitri Matheny is a jazz treasure. The lyrical Matheny has impressive chops, but it's his warmth and soulfulness that win you over." All Music Guide

Join us for an all-star jazz party celebrating the international release of Sagebrush Rebellion, Dmitri Matheny's tenth album as a leader, on the Papillon/BluePort jazz label.

Celebrated for his warm tone, soaring lyricism and masterful technique, Matheny was first introduced to jazz audiences in the 1990s as the protégé of legendary flugelhornist Art Farmer. Matheny has since matured into "one of the jazz world's most talented horn players." SF Chronicle

Sagebrush Rebellion showcases new originals, jazz classics by Johnny Burke and Duke Ellington, and favorite compositions by Charlie Haden, Steve Swallow and Nat Adderley.

“Their music is a fertile landscape without boundaries, earning Matheny and his cohorts a reputation as one of the most eclectic and daring ensembles on today's jazz scene." Oakland Tribune

Vanessa Racci is an Italian American Jazz singer who recently released her album "Italiana Fresca", which revives the music of the Italian American songbook with fresh jazz arrangements and a modern female perspective. Her CD release party this June was at Birdland Jazz Club in NYC where she also performs.

"During my career, I have worked with many singers, and I can honestly say that rarely, I've come across a singer like Vanessa Racci. Her voice is golden, and her singing is superb. She is truly unique! Listening to her is a real treat!" - Yaron Gershovsky, Manhattan Transfer Musical Director

"This quite unique recoding stands out from the crowd. Vanessa Racci's great sound blends perfectly with jazzy arrangements of Classic Italian-American songs." - Ron Forman, WKRB

"Naylor remains one of the most superbly arresting vocalists around." - JazzTimes

"Naylor excels as a sensitive song interpreter with unerring intonation." - DownBeat

"Jacqui has a sumptuous voice, knack for scratchiness, and an ability to sweeten those bluesy bent notes." - Village Voice

This velvet-toned vocalist and songwriter is equally at ease singing music by Cole Porter and David Byrne as she is her own original music. Far from a straight-laced jazz purist, Naylor has made the mixing (and sometimes "smashing") of genres and eras her stock-in-trade, gaining fans and notoriety for singing the lyrics and melody of jazz standards over the grooves of well-known pop and rock songs and vice versa. "Naylor has brought new twists to the notion of melding jazz and pop tunes - without high-tech assistance," claims NPR.
