Taste Budd’s Café 40 West Market Street Red Hook, NY 12571 , Please DO NOT call Taste Budd’s Café for information regarding booking the floor staff and management will not be able to respond. All submissions must be by email. The Venue: A 50 seat café/coffee/chocolate house, Taste Budd’s Café offers artists a truly unique performance opportunity. The café has a steady flow of customers most of the year and averages 120 transactions between 11am-4pm . Live music has been booked at Taste Budd’s weekly since Dec. 2005. Taste Budd’s typically hosts 8 performers monthly. Artists booked will be listed on Taste Budd's event calendar, and if in time, will be included in Taste Budd's monthly enews sent to approximately 1500 customers and posted at Taste Budd’s Café. Enews features include your digital image, bios, and web page links. Live music is every Saturday and Sunday 1-3pm. Friday nights can be booked for artists who are interested however there is no house tip or stipend. Attendance on Friday nights tends to be slow if there is no local draw. Since Taste Budd’s books 3 to 6 months in advance, the calendar is normally full for three or more months, with occasional cancelations. In efforts to allow more last minute opportunities Taste Budd’s is now open for acts who would like to open or close for regular weekend shows(11am-12:30pm or 3:30-5pm Sat. or Sun.). This can give local or passing through artists a chance to get in and perform. Sorry there are no house tips for these times. All 1-3pm bookings receive a free meal and $15 house tip. Other compensation is usually taken by the artists’ themselves in form of tips or CD sales. For certain events, artists get a $50 stipend along with their free meal. (Stipend agreements are limited to 3 per month) . The café seats 50 people, and only acoustic instruments are allowed. Percussion instruments are allowed; however if performers must play loud this is not the venue for them. Taste Budd’s customers must be able to speak with each other during live music and cashiers must be able to hear customers at the register. This venue is not a concert hall. If the music is too loud artists will be asked to lower it. Request a sound check from the café supervisor if you are not sure. Taste Budd’s has a Bose L1 Model 2 live sound system with tone engine. There is no sound assistant or MC. Artists are expected to set up, plug in and introduce themselves. How do I get booked? Send digital music samples or links and bio to We review submissions once a week, so please be patient if we do not get back to you right away. We will let you know if you are approved or not. If approved/selected you must then review our event calendar for open dates. Go to Event Calendar. All events starting with “Live at Taste Budd’s” are booked shows. If “Live at Taste Budd’s” is not listed consider the date/time open and available. Email us the dates you would like to take and we will confirm. Once booked, you can send us posters to post if you like. 3 posters would be enough. DO NOT call Taste Budd’s Café, floor staff or management will not be able to respond about any performer information. Getting on with the show: The stage is at Guitar Mural wall or patio if you will play outside. Use side door entrance for equipment rather than the front door. DO NOT plan to store instrument cases at the stage or tables nearby. The space is too small and we need room for customers. Rather give your cases to our café supervisor, who will store them in the back until you breakdown. House Sound: Bose L1 model 2 with tone match engine will be ready. There is only 1 -1/4 “ in jack for instrument, otherwise there are three XLR in for mics. Three mics (2 Sure 58, 1 Sure 57), one straight stand, three boom stands, adjust sound to space please. No cover, respectable attire(casual is fine), arrive early
