Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Nadav Snir-Zelniker (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles. The group explores the grittier, rockier side of the genre referencing groups like the original Tony Williams Lifetime and mines the jazz standard repertoire for obscure gems and deep cuts.

Paramount Hudson Valley Theater
1008 Brown Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Over the past three decades, Rick Springfield has worn many hats as an entertainer and performer. He is an actor and best-selling author, but his first love has always been music. With 25 million records sold, 17 top-40 hits, including Don't Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, as well as the 1981 Grammy Award winning hit single "Jessie's Girl," the talented artist shows no signs of slowing down. Springfield's latest musical effort is Rocket Science, his 18th studio album, which he will release in February through Frontiers Music. Written largely with his longtime collaborator and former bass player Matt Bissonette, the album delivers the expertly crafted wide-ranging pop-rock songs that Springfield is known for. The "Stripped Down" tour was created to bring a more intimate, yet still lively performance to fans. With personal stories about his life, music and question and answer (Q&A) segment, Springfield has created an intimate and exciting experience you don't want to miss.

Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
For anyone who loves joyful, unpretentious, but highly creative and spontaneous jazz, Todd Londagin’s new album Look Out For Love will be a delightful discovery. In the company of four longstanding musical cohorts, Todd has assembled a repertoire of 10 songs, culled from the Great American Songbook and popular songs. Bassist Jennifer Vincent and drummer David Berger have been playing with Todd since the early 1990s (all three were original members of the successful ‘90s band, The Flying Neutrinos); while pianist Matt Ray and guitarist Pete Smith have been performing with Todd since 2000. Together, they artfully and lovingly developed each piece like an assortment of delicious dishes combined together for a cohesive feast. As Todd explains, "each tune is an exercise in doing things in a different way." Unabashed swing is definitely a consistent mood throughout the CD.

Klezmatics
Eastern European Jewish music
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Since their emergence, the Klezmatics have raised the bar for Eastern European Jewish music and helped to change the face of contemporary Yiddish culture. Today they celebrate 30 years!

With three original members—Lorin Sklamberg, Frank London and Paul Morrissett, and longtime members Matt Darriau, Lisa Gutkin and Richie Barshay, the Klezmatics are without a doubt the most successful proponents of klezmer music in the world.

In 2003 the band wrote new music to a collection of lyrics by Woody Guthrie, which resulted in a 2006 Grammy Award for Wonder Wheel. But the project actually came about because Nora (Woody’s daughter) discovered that eight were Hanukkah songs! Hanukkah you ask? Woody’s mother in law was the Yiddish songwriter Eliza Greenblatt, and the bond with her and her culture much informed his creative thinking during his Brooklyn years. These songs, along with new instrumentals became Woody Guthrie’s Happy Joyous Hanukkah.
