We will be playing a short opening set at 8 PM then sharing the stage with other musicians and friends.

JOIN US FOR GOOD FOOD, DRINKS AND GROOVING TUNES. (check out the music night menu and home made deserts)

(Musicians note) There will be a sign up sheet for any players who want to take the stage. The PA, guitar and bass amp and drums will be provided. We will try to match players for the best musical expression. Each player is guaranteed 3 songs as time permits.

The singer generally calls the tune which can be in any genre as long as the other players know it. The blues is always a good fall back as everyone should know the 12 bars.

1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Known for his thrilling cello playing, new techniques, a unique mix of folk, bluegrass, jazz and R&B, Ben Sollee possesses a smoky vocal style and a knack for intricate arrangements.

Songwriter, composer, storyteller, Sollee has a reputation for a 360º approach to his art. The Kentucky native educates as much entertains through his innovative style as a cellist; conveying genre-bending songwriting through electrifying performances and non-traditional album presentation.

Sollee’s music is difficult to pin down. Following a performance at the Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, the New York Times remarked how Sollee’s “…meticulous, fluent arrangements continually morphed from one thing to another. Appalachian mountain music gave way to the blues, and one song was appended with a fragment from a Bach cello suite, beautifully played.”

Sollee teams up with longtime collaborator, percussionist Jordon Ellis. The two dive deep into heavy cello and drum grooves.

"Shemekia’s a ball-of-fire vocalist with a voice that’s part Memphis, part Chicago and all woman… devastatingly powerful. She’s a great singer, period." – CHICAGO SUN-TIMES

Whether she’s belting out a raucous blues-rocker, firing up a blistering soul-shouter, bringing the spirit to a gospel-fueled R&B rave-up or digging deep down into a subtle, country-tinged ballad, Shemekia Copeland sounds like no one else.

She has sung with Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Carlos Santana, James Cotton and many others. She opened for The Rolling Stones and entertained U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait. Jeff Beck calls her “f*cking amazing.” Santana says, “She’s incandescent…a diamond.”

Her love of travel, world music and other cultures has become the major influence in her own eclectic and melodic finger style guitar compositions and original "journalistic" songs of social commentary. For the past 4 1/2 years, Sharon has been living in Jerusalem. We are happy to have her back in the Hudson Valley, singing the songs from her experiences spent traveling both home and abroad.

THE FLYING CAT MUSIC SERIES PRESENTS

Phoenicia, NY   See Map
On Saturday, November 5th, the Flying Cat presents an evening of music from NYC folk/Americana quintet Bobtown. The Flying Cat concert series is hosted inside the Empire State Railway Museum at 70 Lower High Street, Phoenicia, NY.

With their distinctive original songs and vocal arrangements, NYC’s Bobtown is recognized as taking an unconventional and refreshing approach to the tradition of folk music. WFUV's John Platt chose the group as one of his top three music discoveries of 2013, and Americana UK perhaps summed up the quintet best when they said, "If you're looking for acoustic, Gothic-folk-Americana kissed with gorgeous harmonies, then look no further." Their three-album discography presents a roots music mash-up bound together by a continuous thread of innovative vocal harmonies; and their unpredictable, not-to-be-missed live shows feature a compelling blend of voices and instruments that move gracefully between elegy and celebration.

Their live show is absolutely explosive, uncannily capturing the raw, ragged, swaggerin', scarf wearin', down-and-dirty REAL Rock 'n Roll classic Aerosmith.

Get Your Wings also recreates the sounds of Tyler and Perry's biggest hits from the past three decades, too. If you've got an Aerosmith jones, this is the band to see! "Get Your Wings is the one and only Aero tribute band to experience." -More Sugar Magazine

A HOMECOMING! Stellar Songwriting, Stellar Singing

Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter

12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Just off his 3rd tour with The Rob Thomas Band -- this year with the famed '90s band, Counting Crows -- Marc Von Em is back "Home" in Peekskill. His original music is influenced by folk, funk & blues, with a few choice cover songs woven in. As one reviewer wrote: "If you haven't seen Marc Von Em perform live, you're only cheating yourself."

Marc is able to create amazing amounts of sound and diversity through his voice and one faithful guitar. His chops are wide-ranging, from delicate finger picking to rambunctious Pete Townsend-type strumming. Marc is able to seamlessly switch his vibe -- his dynamic voice can go from smooth & soaring to smoky scatting. His harmonica playing is equally impressive and he sometimes uses it to accompany Muddy Waters-style blues on guitar.

Rob Thomas wrote, "... when I heard his original stuff, I asked [Marc] to open up a 10,000 seat gig. Just him, his guitar, and his songs. He killed it!"

Father-son duo, Jacob "Jake" and David Bernz embrace Americana music with a great respect for the activism behind it - and the folk traditions within. Together they have moved foward, playing original and traditional songs.

Producer/musician, David Bernz has played with musicians from nearly every genre and produced Grammy Award-winning recordings.

Singer/songwriter, Jacob Bernz has just released his second recording of original material and continues to write and record.

Tall County is an acoustic trio with footholds in the Hudson Valley, Brooklyn and the Adirondacks. The band, whose sound comprises speedy fiddle breaks and loose vocal harmony, released its first full-length album of original songs, Featherweight, in December of 2015. Chronogram, the Hudson Valley-based arts & culture magazine, wrote of the band:

“Like well-aimed medicine for the digitally addled, Tall County’s music goes straight to the marrow.”
