The highlights include mountain dulcimer virtuoso, Rob Brereton, the premiere of New Paltz composer Bob Lukomski’s arrangement of "Sumer Is Icumen In", one of the earliest known notated English folk songs. The 6-part polyphonic counterpoint and free meter provide ample opportunity to work idiomatically with the electronic medium. Also on the bill will be the music of the string and percussion trio, Free River as well as the following chamber works by Hyde Park composer, Kevin Becker, entitled “Duet for Viola and Piano” and “Dreams in Conversation.” This year’s “Beyond” will also feature the presentation of Hudson Valley Folk Guild’s first music scholarship to Matthew Vigna of Saugerties.

with Tyler Cottrell & Dylan Healy
Acoustic
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Due to inclement weather, this event will be INSIDE 12 Grapes, as part of the Downtown Peekskill Summer Music Series.

There is something familiar about the music of Tyler Cottrell and Dylan Healy. One can quickly become acquainted with their articulate melodies. Warm cello and nuanced guitar tones are woven together to create waves of texture. The pair have been crafting soundscapes for a year, embracing the emotive spontaneity of improvisation. Intimate, yet fleeting, their sounds exist only in the moment before dissolving in air.

No Cover. Please call for dinner reservations: 914-737-6624.

with Dylan Doyle Band
Blues, Roots Music, and Rock (classic)
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Dylan Doyle is a teenage Blues guitarist who is creating quite a stir in the Hudson Valley music community. Born in the south to Yankee parents, he has been steeped in everything from Robert Johnson and Townes Van Zandt to Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Hendrix. From this comes a unique musical interpretation that lies somewhere within the delta of Rock, Rockabilly, and the Blues. Dylan was recently a featured artist in the Live Music Camp of the 2015 "Burning Man Event" as well as the 2014 King Biscuit Blues Festival, one of the biggest blues festivals in the country.

And he's getting noticed: "A seasoned guitar slinger in a young man's frame."

Dylan's band includes Chuck Torres on bass and Dorian Randolph on drums. Dylan always puts on an amazing show, you won't believe he's only 18 years old!

**$5 Entertainment Fee for all, including diners.**

Johnny Rawls was born in Columbia, Mississippi in 1951 and raised in Purvis and Gulfport, Mississippi.

He acquired an early interest in music when hearing his grandfather play the blues guitar one Christmas morning. He began playing professionally while still in high school with such stars as ZZ Hill, Little Johnny Taylor, Joe Tex and the Sweet Inspirations. In the mid-70's, Johnny went to work for OV Wright as Wright's band director. After Wright's death in 1980, Johnny led Little Johnny Taylor's band until 1985, when he began touring as a solo artist and made his first solo recording under the Rainbow label.

Recording under Touch Records, Rooster Blues, Rock House, Reach and JSP Records, Johnny has done it all from producing, songwriting, horn arranging, Rhythm, Lead and Bass guitar, keyboard, vocals and background vocals. Johnny started his own record company, Deep South Soul, in 2002 and has released his CD's Lucky Man, Live in Montana, and The Best of Johnny Rawls.
