Part of the 2nd Annual RiverArts Music Tour

After graduating from the University of Miami’s prestigious Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music Program in the Spring of 2014, Talay immediately began making waves on the New York music scene. Sought after as a session player on guitar, bass, and backing vocals, she has toured both locally and nationally supporting other NYC-based acts. This session work helped finance her debut EP Piece by Piece, which has been called “a return to meaningful, introspective songwriting…with memorable melody lines, tight harmonies, and passionate, powerful vocals” by radio host Bruce Figler at New York’s 107.1 The Peak. She has performed her own work at Manhattan’s CMJ Music Marathon and last summer’s Pleasantville Music Festival. She is currently finishing a second EP due out later this year.

“From the fantastic guitar to the detailed and thought provoking lyrics… this is a release that stands out” – Backseat Mafia, 9/10 Editor’s Rating

We've been having a great time playing our bluesy jazzy originals and have been joined by dozens of fine players to jam on tunes of many genres.

We will be playing a short opening set at 8 PM then sharing the stage with other musicians and friends.

JOIN US FOR GOOD FOOD, DRINKS AND GROOVING TUNES. (check out the music night menu and home made deserts)

(Musicians note) There will be a sign up sheet for any players who want to take the stage. The PA, guitar and bass amp and drums will be provided. We will try to match players for the best musical expression. Each player is guaranteed 3 songs as time permits.

The singer generally calls the tune which can be in any genre as long as the other players know it. The blues is always a good fall back as everyone should know the 12 bars.

Our guiding principals are: RESPECT THE OTHER PLAYERS NOT TOO LOUD HAVE A GOOD TIME!

KJ won TWO Independent Music Awards in 2015; a Judges award for her song "Beautiful" (Jazz with Vocal) and a VOX Pop award for her Album, "Destiny". KJ's special blend of "Urban Folk & Jazz" has earned her not only these two prestigious awards, but also 4 other IMA nominations. KJ's song "Choose Your Weapon" was also a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, World Category. And in '09, KJ was named one of Jazz.com's top female vocalists. Quite impressive. But nothing is more moving than hearing KJ perform.

KJ has been described as "A crowd pleaser whose music is impossible to classify, but very easy to enjoy." To say her songs are moving, impressive and simply impeccable is an understatement.

Chris Burke killin' it on keys... and Tito Wilson on drums and harmonies. Each member is a featured singer.
